Hi! My name is Becky Elmuccio and welcome to Crafty Garden Mama. I am a 36 year-old wife and mom who lives in South Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia. I am a former third grade teacher, Ivy League grad, and I have been passionate about environmental issues for over 20 years. After I had our daughter, aka Tomato, in 2010, I needed to find a creative outlet as a new SAHM and thus, I started this blog.
On the Crafty front, I like to knit, sew and cook and I enjoy sharing my endeavors. I’m also crafty in a problem solving sort of way. I look at home and garden challenges with a green lens and try to be eco-friendly in all of my solutions.
In the Garden arena, our family has developed an organic garden in our backyard. As we grow our food, we use the garden as an outdoor classroom for our daughter and other neighborhood kids. We laugh that we are on “Operation No Lawn,” but realize that having some open space is necessary for a running, jumping and developing Tomato. I am constantly searching for information on plants, pests and caring for a sustainable vegetable and flower garden. I love to share what I find with my friends and readers. I can’t say that I ever thought that those 7th grade career tests would be prescient when my number one match was farmer, but it looks like I am finding my way there.
Most of all, I am a Mama. From making choices to use cloth diapers, make my own baby food, choose organic foods at the market and breastfeed our daughter, I strive to do what is the most natural, simple and sustainable for our household and the planet at large. I love doing reviews of eco-friendly, toys, gear and clothing that we have found and used. In doing so, I hope that I can bring brands who are working for social good into your house too.
I like sharing my adventures as I strive make a safe and healthy home for my family and hope you like reading them too. Feel free to contact me via email (email@example.com), Twitter, Facebook or Google + or just leave a comment on my posts. Thanks for stopping by!
